Physical Preparation Course for Coaches Working with Children Under 12

This 14-hour course is held over 2 one-day sessions and is appropriate to coaches or others working with primary school age children. The course includes both theoretical and practical aspects relating to the physical preparation of young people in a football context.

To all coaches

I have arranged a Physical Prep course to be run in Argyll & Bute. This is to be delivered by the head of coaching at the SFA and qualified coaches.

The course is usually held at Stirling University, and finally after a long plea to the SFA they have agreed to run this course in Argyll.

This course is part of player development and the player pathway; it is also part of the Quality Mark. For those clubs already on standard and that aim to go forward to development & community, you need to have coaches on this course.

For those who want to get Quality Mark it’s better to have this qualification now, for both there own personal development as well as your clubs.

The course is on the 25th & 26th of April 2009 at Lochilgphead Joint Campus, 10am to 4pm and the cost is £80.

I am pleased to tell you that Argyll and Bute council through football development are contributing £35 to this course and the cost to you is £45:00 per person, unfortunately the quality mark discount is not applicable.

If this is successful then I am hoping to get the SFA to run the physical prep course for youths later in the year.

As I said earlier my plea to the SFA is to run this in Argyll as it allows our coaches who have done any SFA certificates to do this course in big numbers, rather than hope some of our coaches would be willing to attend the course in Stirling. As you can see it will save you a lot of money and time by registering to attend this course in Lochgilphead and is part of the SFA coach education pathway. It is also compulsory if you wish to do your Level 4.

Please can you return the course booking form along with cheque made payable to Argyll& Bute Council for £45 to Library HQ Highland Avenue, Sandbank Dunoon PA23 8PB by the 6th of April 2009 or contact claire.macleod@argyll-bute.gov.uk for any enquiries.
